Planning your travel

Please plan to arrive at the Diakonia Retreat Center between 3:00 and 6:00 pm on Sunday if possible. 

By Car

Please plan to arrive before dark, as it is much easier to locate the property during the day.  Please be aware that, during the last parts of your driving trip, you may pass through areas with no cellular signal. You may wish to have printed directions and/or maps as a backup to relying on your cellphone. If you must arrive after 6:30 PM, please make sure you let us know your ETA and have our cell phone numbers handy. Upon arrival, leave your luggage in your car in the upper parking lot and come down to the dining hall to find your housing assignment. You will be directed to the best area to park and unload.  After settling in, gather in the dining hall. 

By Plane

  The Diakonia Retreat Center is in a beautiful rural area in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in upstate South Carolina. Three airport options are listed below.

• (GSP) Greenville Spartanburg Intl. Airport is approximately 1.25 hours from DRC - Recommended

• (ATL) Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours from DRC

• (CLT) Charlotte Douglas Airport is approximately 2.5 hours from DRC 

We plan to have a shuttle bus from the GSP airport. If you are arriving at a different airport, we can connect you with others arriving there (if any) if you would like to share a rental car.

Shuttle from GSP: We expect that most attendees will arrive at GSP airport, and we can book roundtrip shuttle bus service if we have enough confirmed reservations. The cost for the shuttle is $140 round trip. Please plan to arrive at GSP before 3:30 PM on Sunday and depart after 2:00 PM on Saturday. If this is not possible, please discuss your options with us as we can help people rideshare based on itineraries. We want to do all we can to help you arrive easily at the beautiful DRC in the mountains of South Carolina!
